“I would be most content if my children grew up to be the kind of people who think decorating consists mostly of building enough bookshelves.”
(Anna Quindlen, “Enough Bookshelves,” The New York Times, August 7, 1991)
Now that’s my idea of decorating!! And I’m pretty sure it will be for my boys as well. The two oldest have been pestering me for another bookcase for months.

This is so good! We have the bookshelves that Steve made when we were first married. When we started homeschooling we had built in bookshelves added to our living room. We bought some cheap ones for our school room after that.
When we moved, I realized how many books I had that did not have a shelf. This past July I bought 5 sets of bookshelves to add to our new basement, just to shelf our history and kid -level books.

We’re all bibliophiles over here, too, with thousands of books (and not enough bookshelves!), and our house will never make it into any Better Homes Than Yours magazines. What a great quote!
