A Brief Illustrated History of the Bookshelf

What fun to see the many ways that bibliophiles through the ages have stored their treasures!

Here are a couple of my favorite quotes:

I have heard people complain innumerable times that they have no space for books, therefore they cannot afford to buy another to read. I have always concluded that these people must not be totally serious about books.

  2. I love those quotes! I have a library in my house (we call it the schoolroom) with floor-to-ceiling shelves on two walls. It is a good thing my husband is a cabinetmaker, because I am running out of shelf space!:>)

  4. I was talking with KayinMaine today after church at a fellowship lunch. I introduced her to blogging (we know each other in real life) and now she’s hooked!!! She was telling me about the Eclectic Bibliophile (as we often joke about our own addictions) whose name was Mary Jo Tate – I said, I “know” her she just proofed/edited that article I had you read…and so I had to stop by and see this side of you.

    I knew there was a reason I liked you. We have soooooo much in common. I’m looking forward to checking out this blog more thoroughly, later in the week.

  6. I knew I was a book addict when I realized I was reading the book “How to Stock a Homeschool Library Inexpensively.” The only suggestion they didn’t make? Spend the $12 you spent on this book on 2 real books instead!
