I\u2019m a lifelong bibliophile<\/a>.<\/p>\n

I simply LOVE books. I love reading books, writing books, editing books, teaching about books, buying books, collecting books, organizing books, sharing books, discussing books, recommending books. I even love the smell of books!<\/p>\n

Books are the basis of my whole life. I have a B.A. and M.A. in English. I homeschooled my 4 sons from kindergarten through twelfth grade for 23 years, taught literature to grades 7-8 in a classical Christian school for 4 years, taught literature to grades 9-12 in a homeschool co-op for 9 years, and currently teach literature online.<\/p>\n

As an international book editor since 1986, I\u2019ve edited magazines, curriculum, fiction, and nonfiction. I even helped edit The Great Gatsby<\/em> for Cambridge University Press! I speak at writing, education and business conferences.<\/p>\n

I\u2019ve published articles on Fitzgerald, Welty, Faulkner, Austen, Dickens, reading, writing, homeschooling, and more; and I\u2019m the author of Critical Companion to F. Scott Fitzgerald<\/em><\/a> and Flourish: Balance for Homeschool Moms<\/em><\/a> and co-author of the bestselling Why I Love Homeschooling: 24 Parents Share the Joys & Challenges of Educating Their Children at Home<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n

Most important, I\u2019ve helped hundreds of readers and students\u2014even those who don\u2019t like to read\u2014learn to understand, appreciate, and enjoy great books more. Nothing excites me more than sharing my love of literature and inspiring that love in others!<\/p>\n

Here on Eclectic Bibliophile, I share what I\u2019m reading, write book reviews, and recommend my favorite books. I also talk about how to encourage children to love books, how to find worthy books, and how to incorporate them into your family\u2019s life and education. We\u2019ll discuss everything from Beatrix Potter<\/em> to bestselling fiction to classics like Homer\u2019s Odyssey.<\/em><\/p>\n
